Prior to this, Andy was the driving force that took Cliniserve from a small collection only business to a £14 million turnover integrated business

Second Waste Treatment Machine
1 March 2011
Medisort is delighted to announce that its second healthcare waste sterilisation machine has been installed and passed its Environment Agency tests with flying colours. This means we have more than double the capacity to serve your needs in a way that protects people and the environment better than ever before.
The new autoclave at Littlehampton, West Sussex has passed the Environment Agency verification process by demonstrating 100% of the spores on the test samples were destroyed, confirming achievement in excess of the STAAT IV standard. This lifts total capacity at the plant to 13,000 tonnes per year, giving our customers enhanced confidence that Medisort has the capacity and technical capability to exceed their expectations.
Bob Eaton, Operations Director said "this is an outstanding achievement. In my 26 years experience, I have never seen such impressive results. They show that Medisort operates what is probably the most effective healthcare waste sterilisation plant in the country, providing great comfort to our customers that their duty of care requirements are very well met."
Medisort Ltd Acquires Former Cliniserve Plant
3 June 2010
The newest entrant in to the healthcare waste market, Medisort Ltd, completed the purchase of the Ethos Acquisitions Ltd's plant in Littlehampton for an undisclosed sum on 28 May 2010. Ethos bought the facility from Cliniserve last year, following the Competition Commission investigation into the acquisition of Cliniserve by SRCL.
The founding directors of Medisort Stuart Brittle and Kevin Miles also own and operate Foley and Miles Ltd (F&M), haulage contractors to the construction industry. Stuart previously worked for H+H Celcon, Britain's premier manufacturer of autoclaved aerated concrete blocks, most recently as Deputy Managing Director. Kevin has been a director of F&M since its incorporation in 1993. With over 50 years experience of high quality processing and logistics; key functions in any company aiming to provide excellent customer service in the field of healthcare waste collection and treatment.
Medisort was formed in March 2009 and since then has secured planning permission for the establishment of a waste processing plant in Thurrock, long term finance for the project, a waste carriers' licence and an application for a processing and transfer licence. The latter has required the drafting of a complete integrated management system incorporating environmental impact minimisation, quality control, health and safety, and personnel procedures.
Medisort's website is currently showing services and prices as well as enabling potential customers to contact the sales department via e-mail. An interactive facility will be available to customers to log in with secure access to all necessary waste transport and processing information, displaying the company's commitment to eco-friendly operation and a full auditable trail essential in the healthcare industry.
Having purchased the facility, Medisort will quickly install the second autoclave in the space originally reserved for it, doubling alternative technology capacity. Plans also exist to install high temperature treatment in the near future that will give clients a 'one stop shop' for all healthcare waste disposal. Research into recycling techniques will continue, with the ultimate aim of running without any onward transfer to land fill.
Cliniserve provided compliant clinical waste management & associated services to both the public and private sectors. This included the NHS's PCT & Acute Trusts as well as independent healthcare groups where no individual waste producer was too small. Medisort promises to embody and expand this ethic, and bringing the Littlehampton staff and facility into the fold is a major development for the company. Stuart and Kevin's aim is to carry on providing excellent service to customers, while giving the additional confidence and environmental benefits that operating their own plant brings.
